French luxury label Louis Vuitton wrapped up Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday with sporty, edgy looks for next winter, offering plenty of leather for outerwear, trousers and dresses. On a catwalk spiked with mirror columns, designer Nicolas Ghesquiere opened the autumn/winter 2016/2017 show with a black coat adorned with golden buttons and cinched at the waist over shiny red leather trousers and combat-style boots. Ghesquiere, who has led a renaissance of the brand known for its monogrammed leather bags, also presented T-shirt-like dresses in bold geometric patterns – blue, red, white and black – in front of guests including Oscar winner Alicia Vikander.

Yoox Net-A-Porter 2015 adjusted core profit up 26 percent

MILAN (Reuters) – Italian online fashion retailer Yoox Net-A-Porter (YNAP) posted a 26 percent increase in 2015 adjusted core profit as sales rose strongly driven by the recently merged group's more exclusive websites. Italy's Yoox merged at the start of October with upmarket rival Net-a-Porter in an all-share deal that created a leader in the fast-growing online luxury market, handing a 50 percent stake to Swiss luxury group Richemont . Saint Laurent went full-throttle killer miniskirt glam, but the decade was also there in the hugely influential Vetements and Balenciago shows, Kenzo, Veronique Leroy, Maison Margiela, Lanvin and Giambattista Valli. Loewe, Louis Vuitton and Taiwanese star Shiatzy Chen all went for black leather bustiers, with the last two pairing them with skinhead and dominatrix boots to up the kick-ass attitude. Valentino even toughened up the tutu, with Sacai, John Galliano and Margiela all taking a military bearing.

As Paris Fashion Week draws to a close, it's time to reflect on the hottest beauty looks modelled on the autumn/winter 2016 catwalks. It wasn't all about the darkness, however — Stella McCartney used luminescent shadow at the inner corners of the models' eyes to make them pop, while Giambattista Valli, perhaps inspired by the recent social media trend for glitter eyebrows, sent Gigi Hadid down the runway with subtly sparkling brows. Chanel's eye makeup reached the brow bone and was lightly latticed, echoing the house's famous quilting technique.
