South Africa’s Truworths to buy majority stake in Office Retail Group

South African fashion retailer Truworths International said on Monday it has entered into an agreement to buy an 88.9 percent stake in Britain's Office Retail Group for 5.5 billion rand ($382 million). The British retailer's management will retain an 11.1 percent stake in Office. Truworths has the option to buy that stake within 3 to 5 years, it said in a statement.

South Africa’s Foschini Group lifts profit on clothing sales

South African fashion retailer The Foschini Group's half-year profit rose 16.6 percent on strong growth in clothing sales, it said on Thursday. TFG, which in January bought Britain's Phase Eight, said headline earnings per share (EPS) from continuing operations rose to 470.2 cents for the six months ended Sept. 30 from 403.3 cents a year earlier. Headline EPS is the main profit measure in South Africa and strips away certain one-off items.

Tom Ford to put on first-ever menswear catwalk show at London Collections Men

Tom Ford is set to put on a full catwalk show for the first time at London Collections Men in January. A provisional schedule released by the British Fashion Council reveals that heavy hitters Alexander McQueen and Burberry will also be hitting the runway. Other highlights will include shows by returning brands Moschino and Pringle of Scotland, while J.W. Anderson and BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund winner E. Tautz will also host catwalk shows.
