American Apparel to file for bankruptcy as soon as Monday: sources

By Jessica DiNapoli NEW YORK (Reuters) – American Apparel LLC plans to file its second bankruptcy in just over a year as soon as Monday, weighed down by intense competitive pressures facing U.S. teen retailers and a rocky relationship with its founder, according to people familiar with the matter. The company became a part of popular culture for its racy advertising and mercurial founder, Dov Charney. American Apparel has been trying to find a buyer for the company, and began discussing a possible sale with brand licensor Sequential Brands Group Inc as well as financial services company B. Riley Financial Inc after talks with brand licensor Authentic Brands Group LLC stalled.

Ex-child star Mary-Kate Olsen marries French banker Sarkozy

Former child star and fashion designer Mary-Kate Olsen has married Frenchman Olivier Sarkozy – the half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy – in a quiet New York ceremony, her former “Full House” TV co-star said on Monday. Bob Saget, who appeared with Olsen and her twin sister Ashley on the 1990s U.S. television comedy, confirmed reports during an appearance on NBC's “Today” show that the two had wed. It is the first marriage for Olsen, and the second for Sarkozy, who has two children.
