The term “haute couture” is a protected status with its own regulatory commission deciding which fashion houses are eligible for the label. Fashion houses making the official lineup — whether as permanent or guest members — must follow a certain number of rules to be able to show off their designs.

Paris Fashion Week: show schedule finalized

After New York, London and Milan, the cream of the fashion world will be heading to the French capital for another round of autumn/winter 2016 catwalk previews. The Paris event runs March 1-9, hosting runway shows in some of the city's most emblematic locations. With the official schedule now finalized, Lucien Pellat Finet is lined up to open Paris Fashion Week, with Moon Young Hee set to close the event.

Alexander McQueen returning to London Fashion Week

British label Alexander McQueen will present its Fall/Winter 2016 collection at London Fashion Week in February, one of many highlights of the LFW schedule, which was revealed Thursday. The London-based house usually shows in Paris, and its return to its home city will be for one season only, according to the brand. The label's announcement was made as the British Fashion Council revealed the official schedule for London Fashion Week, which runs from February 19-23.
