Olympic athletes, Posh Spice and Andy Murray honoured in Queen’s New Year List

By Adela Suliman LONDON (Reuters) – Olympic athlete Mo Farah, tennis star Andy Murray, actor Mark Rylance, comedian Ken Dodd and Kinks musician Ray Davies have been knighted in Queen Elizabeth's New Year's Honours List. Spice Girl and designer Victoria Beckham was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) while other fashion notables included Anna Wintour editor-in-chief of “American Vogue” and accessories designer, Anya Hindmarch.

Rio has a hard act to follow after London 2012's alternately humorous and jaw-droppingly sophisticated version. This opening ceremony, held in a country suffering its deepest recession in almost a century, will be more modest.

Rio 2016 Olympics: five fashion buys with a Brazilian flavor

The world will soon be gearing up for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, held August 5 to 21, 2016. The Organizing Committee for the Rio 2016 Olympics has teamed with the famous Brazilian footwear brand for a special collection of flip-flops in the colors and patterns of the upcoming Games. Swimwear brand Beliza has embraced the spirit of Rio 2016 with gusto this summer, creating an elastane triangle bikini top with yellow and green cups and gold elastic, matched with green briefs with gold elastic on the sides.

Korean designers set the bar high at London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week opened with a bang Friday as Seoul-born designer J. JS Lee debuted a bold Autumn/Winter 2016 collection for the modern female power dresser. The current fervor for all things monochromatic played a huge part in the show, with entire outfits crafted from a single hue, drawing attention to the collection's fluid lines and clever layering (pencil skirts over trousers, anyone?). It was a hard act to follow, but fellow Korean talent Eudon Choi managed it deftly, showcasing an afternoon collection that bore a similar reverence to structure but a lighter, more delicate touch.
