Versace’s Versus brings swagger to London Fashion Week

Under low lights and with a pumping soundtrack, bright young things wearing black leather and slouchy ripped denim put some swagger into London Fashion Week, courtesy of Donatella Versace. There were cutaway dresses exposing the shoulder and stomach, with a silver zip running down the back, and pleated and leather mini-skirts — one with the belt left provocatively open — matched with leather jackets. Bonded mesh dresses and crop tops brought a sporty edge to the collection, which also featured cropped, zip-up bomber jackets, military-style knits and washed out ripped denim with metal and crystals sparkling underneath.

Catwalk dreamers warned as Instagram creates new model army

As catwalk stars criss-cross the globe for fashion week season, modelling agencies are increasingly using social media worldwide to scout out their new faces, to the alarm of some. Leading agencies such as IMG, Elite and Nevs and fashion houses including Marc Jacobs have all taken to sites such as photo-sharing service Instagram to recruit models, revolutionising the business. Kate Moss was famously scouted while waiting for a flight in New York, while Naomi Campbell was out shopping in south London when she got a tap on the shoulder, but a move online appears to be heralding an end to such chance encounters… and casting studios.

Real men wear makeup: hot male beauty looks from Milan Fashion Week

At Vivienne Westwood the look was rocky and slightly bedraggled for an insouciant look, while over at Calvin Klein the models wore their shoulder-length locks in neat, flicky layers with lashings of shine spray and a slick center parting for added glamour. The most eye-catching look could be seen at Moncler Gamme Bleu, where the red, white and blue camouflage outwear was offset by face paint of the same pattern. Vivienne Westwood, meanwhile, sent her models out wearing vibrant eyeshadow that matched the color of their shirts in unmissable shades such as electric blue and tangerine.
