Supermodel Kate Moss launches own agency

Kate Moss is launching her own talent agency after leaving the one that recruited her aged 14 earlier this year, the Business of Fashion website reported as London Fashion Week draws to a close on Tuesday. “I want to focus more on managing people's careers than just a modelling agency,” said Moss, whose agency has a website, Twitter and Instagram presence despite her own well-known avoidance of social media. London-born Moss, the daughter of a barmaid and a travel agent, was recruited in a chance encounter at New York airport and is one of the few supermodels from the 1990s who still has a lucrative career.

‘Queen of Knitwear’ Sonia Rykiel dead at 86: family

French fashion designer Sonia Rykiel, the so-called Queen of Knitwear, died on Thursday at the age of 86 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, her daughter told AFP. “My mother died at 5:00 this morning at her home in Paris from the effects of Parkinson's,” Nathalie Rykiel said. The pioneering Rykiel was a fixture in the industry for half a century, launching her own fashion house in 1968 buoyed by the Swinging Sixties craze in London.

Pia Mia named Fashion Director for Madonna’s Material Girl line

The 19-year-old American singer, songwriter and model Pia Mia (Perez) has been chosen by Madonna to act as Fashion Director for her Macy's junior line Material Girl, it was announced by WWD. Inspired by her daughter Lourdes, who is also 19, Madonna first created the Material Girl junior line in 2010.

Spanish maker of Princess Charlotte dress inundated with orders

By Sonya Dowsett MADRID (Reuters) – A family-run children's clothes shop in Spain has been inundated with orders from around the world for dresses identical to the one worn by Britain's Princess Charlotte in the latest official photos – but has enough cloth to make only 20 of them. “The biggest advertising agency in the world couldn't get this response, it's incredible,” said Margarita Pato, who realised the princess was wearing one of her designs when she saw the photos in Spain's Hola magazine. “In Spain interest has soared, but in England it's almost a revolution,” added the 62-year-old founder and designer of M&H. However, the shop is not going to crank up production in response to the overwhelming demand because there are only 10 metres left of the pink floral fabric used in the princess's outfit – enough to make just 20 more dresses.
