Converse poised to launch ‘Essentials’ apparel collection

American shoe company Converse will launch a line of basic apparel dubbed “Converse Essentials” this week, in a bid to strengthen its spot in the clothing market. Focused on minimalist silhouettes, the capsule collection consists of “mainstays” like t-shirt, sweatshirt, hoodies, pant and backpack. Converse Essentials for men, which will launch simultaneously, is set to mirror the women's offering, with six core items offered in five colors — with a unisex collaboration called “Converse x Fragments” with streetwear designer Hiroshi Fujiwara dropping in limited edition for the launch.

Fashion features tropics and layers at Paris show opening

Paris Fashion Week displayed colorful and tropical-inspired creations from Paule Ka and layered printed and patterned looks by Dutch designer Liselore Frowijn as it opened on Tuesday. Several designers will make their debuts for some of the world's top luxury labels in Paris, which is the final leg of the womenswear spring/summer 2017 catwalk calendar after fashion weeks in New York, London and Milan. Fashionistas are eagerly awaiting the debut of new Christian Dior artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri, who joined from Italian fashion house Valentino and presents her first line for the French brand on Friday.

Rihanna shuns fashion week for second Fenty x Puma instalment

Rihanna's debut Fenty x Puma show was one of the hottest tickets at last season's New York Fashion Week, but the star is shunning the catwalk for the Spring/Summer 2017 season. The singer and designer will instead opt to unveil her new collection via a series of pop-up stores in New York a few days before fashion week hits the city, WWD reports. Upmarket department store Bergdorf Goodman's pop-up will be selling clothes from the new collection, but shoppers looking to get their hands on RiRi's famous shoe designs will have to head to Six:02.

Lena Dunham has teamed up with her “Girls' co-star Jemima Kirke to star in lingerie brand Lonely's new campaign. Photographer Zara Mirkin shot the actresses in Brooklyn, New York, for the candid campaign, with portraits posted on Lonely's Instagram account showing the pair hanging out in ordinary-looking bathroom setting, while modelling some of the label's laciest pieces. Dunham, perched on the bathtub, rocks the olive green Penny Mist and Winona Oxblood combination, while Jemima wears Bonnie Powder Blue and Gigi Underwire.

OVS’ ‘Arts of Italy’ fashion capsule celebrates Italian masterpieces

Italy's e-commerce site OVS has released a limited edition fashion capsule called “Arts of Italy,” reports Women's Wear Daily. The collection, which was presented on Wednesday at Milan's 18-century Biblioteca Braidense, will celebrate several of the country's cultural treasures. A portion of sales from the new capsule collection will go towards restoring the cultural artifacts it celebrates.
