Fendi models walk on water in Rome’s Trevi fountain

Shimmering models wearing the latest creations by Fendi appeared to walk on water Thursday at a fairytale show in Rome's Trevi fountain to mark the luxury fashion house's 90th anniversary. The soft, luxurious collection of 46 outfits was inspired by Danish fairytale illustrator Kay Nielsen, who painted colour plates for the book Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Andersen in 1924 and also later worked for Disney, including on sequences of the film Fantasia.

Dior names Maria Grazia Chiuri as new creative director

As widely expected, Christian Dior officially announced the Italian designer's appointment as the label's new head creative on Friday, July 8, tweeting “Dior is delighted to welcome Ms. Maria Chiuri as artistic director of women's couture, RTW and accessory collections.” On Thursday, Valentino had confirmed that Maria Grazia Chiuri would be leaving her position of creative directorship at the Italian label, which she had shared with Pierpaolo Piccioli. As expected, it's the Italian designer Maria Grazia Chiuri who will take over as creative director of the Dior fashion house, replacing Raf Simons who stood down in October.

Puma sees ‘female future’ helped by Rihanna designs

Strong demand for sneakers designed by singer Rihanna helped Puma achieve higher-than-expected sales growth in the fourth quarter and the German sportswear firm said on Thursday a busy sports calendar should help it in 2016. Puma, which fell out of favour as a fashion brand for women, has made tapping into the booming female sportswear market a key part of its strategy for getting back into the race with industry leaders Nike and Adidas . It has appointed Rihanna, famous for hits such as Umbrella, as creative director and the singer launched her first clothing collection for the company last week in New York, a goth-inspired range in black and white sported by models wearing black lipstick.

Gigi stars in Hilfiger’s trans-Atlantic NY runway

Tommy Hilfiger transformed the New York catwalk into an ocean liner Monday, opening and closing his trans-Atlantic, voyage-inspired collection with model of the moment Gigi Hadid as snow fell outside. “Years back, in the '20s, the '30s, when the people would travel trans-Atlantic they would get dressed properly,” Hilfiger told AFP in a sneak preview of the collection ahead of the show. The models wearing his fall/winter 2016 collection strode the deck of the ocean liner, which pumped steam into the air through giant funnels against a night sky backdrop glittering stars.
