Down syndrome ‘Be Beautiful’ fashion show raises $2.1 million

(Reuters) – Movie stars Jamie Foxx, Hilary Swank and Queen Latifah were among celebrities sharing the catwalk with models with Down syndrome for a fundraiser that brought in $2.1 million for research and medical care. Foxx, whose sister DeOndra Dixon has Down syndrome, said the aim of the “Be Beautiful, Be Yourself” fashion show in Denver, Colorado on Saturday was to “raise more money, raise awareness so we can attack this situation and bring eyes to it.” Organizers said the event is the single largest fundraiser benefiting people with Down syndrome. It was hosted by the Global Down Syndrome Foundation.

Bottega Veneta, part of the Kering group, celebrated its 50th anniversary showcasing a combined men's and women's spring/summer 17 collection. Bottega Veneta also brought back from its archives 15 bag styles to mark its half-century, including an intrecciato clutch bag used in the movie “American Gigolo”.

British fashion brand Ted Baker debuts Guy Ritchie-directed ‘shoppable film’

British designer fashion brand Ted Baker has unveiled a new James Bond-style film, directed by Guy Ritchie, as part of its fall advertising campaign. Billed as the company's first fashion experience that is being powered by Google App's voice search, viewers can click on what the actors are wearing in the film to place items into a vault, from which they can then purchase, with everything featured in the movie available via Nordstrom, the brand's exclusive North American partner, as well as Selfridges and the Ted Baker site.

Tom Ford makes comeback at Venice festival with his second movie

By Agnieszka Flak and Hanna Rantala VENICE (Reuters) – After a seven-year hiatus, Tom Ford is back to film making with thriller “Nocturnal Animals” premiering at the Venice Film Festival on Friday, and the busy fashion designer promises he will be back much sooner next time. “I opened a hundred stores, I had a child, life sort of took over and I didn't find the right project for a few years,” Ford told Reuters on the sidelines of the festival. “So, hopefully three more years until the next one and not seven.” The movie showing in Venice, which stars Amy Adams as an art gallery owner troubled by her ex-husband's novel she receives in the mail after years of silence, is a cautionary tale about coming to terms with the choices we make in life.

Giorgio Armani reveals costumes for ‘The Neon Demon’

Giorgio Armani has revealed a glimpse of the costumes designed for his latest cinema collaboration, “The Neon Demon,” directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. The Italian fashion mogul has brought his signature style to the thriller's character Jesse, played by Elle Fanning, in the upcoming Amazon Studio production. In her starring role as the doe-eyed aspiring model Jesse, Fanning wears an Emporio Armani metallic blue strapless top with a matching skirt in the movie's opening scene, and showcases outfits from the designer throughout the film.

Burberry honors ‘Billy Elliot’ with holiday campaign

Burberry has unveiled its 2015 festive advertising campaign which pays tribute to the 15th anniversary of the cult ballet movie “Billy Elliot”. Burberry's short film for the occasion features a star-studded cast including British musician Sir Elton John, who provided the score for the movie's theater adaptation, and the UK actress Julie Walters, who treaded the boards in the play. Romeo Beckham, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and James Corden are just some of the additional stars putting in an appearance, while a series of still photographs taken by Mario Testino round out the campaign.
