Louis Vuitton takes on Rio with its 2017 Cruise collection

Nicolas Ghesquière tapped into the pre-Olympics fever that is sweeping Rio de Janeiro this weekend with his athletic take on resort wear for Louis Vuitton's 2017 collection. The French designer chose the futuristic Niterói Contemporary Art Museum for the show, channeling the building's billowing curves and oceanside location through a collection that was simultaneously sporty, dramatic and laid-back. Scuba-style dresses featured cut-out detailing, wetsuit-like collars and longer-length side panels, with stripes and racing check patterns emphasizing the sporty undertones of the collection.

From Diana to Rihanna: exhibition pays homage to the women who wore Dior

France's Christian Dior Museum, housed in the fashion designer's childhood home in Granville, Normandy, is holding a summer exhibition entitled “Women in Dior – Sublime Elegance of a Portrait,” May 5 to September 25, 2016. The exhibition pays homage to the stylish women — princesses, First Ladies, fashion icons, movie stars, musicians and more — who have worn garments designed by the French fashion house, exploring the relationship between the different Dior pieces and their famous wearers. “Women in Dior – Sublime Elegance of a Portrait,” organized by fashion historian and curator Florence Müller, honors these famous figures and the key moments in their lives that saw them create an unbreakable bond with the Dior pieces they wore.

A brief history of underwear exposed at London’s V&A

“Fashion and underwear are inextricably linked,” Susanna Cordner, research assistant on the “Underwear” exhibition, told AFP. One of the exhibition's centre-pieces — a hand-made corset fashioned by an Englishwoman of modest means — shows that such complex items were not confined to high-society, but had to be worn by all women for fear of upsetting moral sensibilities. The show also reveals how men also used corsets and other garments to provide support while playing sport and to flatter the shape, but not nearly to the extent of the women of the age.

Cholé unveils floaty dresses and summery shades in Sun 2016 collection

As an extension of its spring/summer 2016 campaign, French fashion house Chloé has captured the carefree spirit of summer in a freshly unveiled “Sun 2016” collection, photographed by Théo Wenner. After setting its spring/summer 2016 campaign among the cobbled streets and mosaic-covered walls of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Chloé has picked the desert-like landscapes of the American Southwest as a breathtaking backdrop to showcase the 14 light, summery pieces of the Sun 2016 collection. In a campaign shot by American photographer Théo Wenner, “Chloé girls” Annemarieke van Drimmelen and singer Dimphy Janse can be seen hitting the highway as partners in crime on a sun-soaked road trip.

Jeremy Scott to launch fashion career retrospective in Dallas

Jeremy Scott is set to celebrate his 20-year anniversary as a fashion designer with an exhibition at the Dallas Contemporary museum. The show will open in 2017 and will serve as a retrospective of his designs over the course of his career, spanning his position at the head of Moschino as well as his own eponymous label, WWD reports. “It's going to be my 20th anniversary next year, so to have the Contemporary do an exhibition of my work is a very exciting and thrilling moment,” he told the publication, adding that although he has been given the option of using the museum's surface area of 26,000 square feet, he is still thinking about how exactly to utilize the space.

Calais museum explores the work of fashion designer Anne Valérie Hash

The Museum of Lace and Fashion (La Cité de la dentelle et de la mode) in Calais, France, has invited the French designer — and her fashion house — to exhibit emblematic garments and showcase the creative process. This first French exhibition dedicated to the work of Anne Valérie Hash will look back over her first 13 years of designs. As a famous name of the fashion world, the French designer is particularly known for deconstructing menswear pieces to transform them into womenswear creations, and, more generally, for bringing harmony to contrasts and contradictions, whether in terms of colors, styles, fabrics or eras.
