Exclusive: LVMH considers creative director change at Louis Vuitton – sources

LVMH boss Bernard Arnault is considering a change of creative director at Louis Vuitton with the up-and-coming Jonathan Anderson, now at sister brand Loewe, viewed as the best candidate to replace Nicolas Ghesquiere, according to three sources with knowledge of the matter. LVMH declined to comment. Louis Vuitton is the world's biggest luxury brand, generating nearly 8 billion euros ($8.8 billion) in annual revenue and accounts for the bulk of profit at parent LVMH, owner of 70 luxury brands and businesses, ranging from fashion and wine to jewelry and hotels.

A few small words spoken by the designer have sent shockwaves through the fashion world. Speaking on French TV last week, Nicolas Ghesquière said that he's ready to launch his own label, a revelation that could signal a possible exit from his role as Louis Vuitton creative director. A few days after presenting the Louis Vuitton label's “Cruise 2017” collection in the spectacular setting of the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum in Brazil, Nicolas Ghesquière appeared as a guest on the current affairs show “Le Petit Journal” on France's Canal Plus TV network.

Paris Fashion Week wraps up with sporty, edgy leather from Vuitton

French luxury label Louis Vuitton wrapped up Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday with sporty, edgy looks for next winter, offering plenty of leather for outerwear, trousers and dresses. On a catwalk spiked with mirror columns, designer Nicolas Ghesquiere opened the autumn/winter 2016/2017 show with a black coat adorned with golden buttons and cinched at the waist over shiny red leather trousers and combat-style boots. Ghesquiere, who has led a renaissance of the brand known for its monogrammed leather bags, also presented T-shirt-like dresses in bold geometric patterns – blue, red, white and black – in front of guests including Oscar winner Alicia Vikander.
