New York Fashion Week had plenty to offer on its penultimate day, with big names such as Vera Wang and Tory Burch taking to the catwalk to showcase their Spring/Summer 2017 collections. Menswear shows, traditionally held months before the women hit the runways later in the year, are being slowly airbrushed from the fashion industry's calendar and folded into the women's events, almost as an accessory. In Milan, where male models are strutting their stuff in shows that began on Friday for men's fashion week, 10 designers have decided not to showcase their collections this year including Calvin Klein, Ermenegildo Zegna and Kering's Brioni and Bottega Veneta. Other brands, including Burberry, Gucci and Tom Ford, have announced in recent months that they plan to stage combined events in future.

What to watch for at London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week (LFW) kicks off on Friday, with 83 designers heading to the UK capital to showcase their Autumn / Winter 2016 collections. Revered fashion house Alexander McQueen will return to the schedule for the first time in over a decade for AW16, under the guidance of Creative Director Sarah Burton. The brand will show alongside headline names including Belstaff, Burberry, Christopher Kane, Gareth Pugh, J.W.Anderson and Paul Smith.

British Fashion Council reveals the hottest new menswear talent for AW16

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has revealed the list of UK menswear labels it will be championing for Autumn/Winter 2016. Ten upcoming brands have been selected under the 'Newgen Men' banner, sponsored by Topman, enabling them to showcase their Autumn/Winter 2016 collections at London Collections Men (LCM) in January next year. This year English designer Liam Hodges sees himself featured on the list for the first time.
