Sonia Rykiel to close secondary line in restructuring move

French brand Sonia Rykiel has announced plans to close its Sonia by Sonia Rykiel diffusion line in a move aimed at repositioning its flagship brand. Sonia by Sonia Rykiel has four standalone stores and four corners in department stores, most of which will be shuttered by the end of 2017, reports WWD. The restructuring will also introduce lower price points on the main Sonia Rykiel line to make the brand more competitive.

Pitti Immagine Uomo unveils special guests for upcoming show

Fashion designer Paul Smith is set to launch his new PS by Paul Smith collection at the upcoming menswear event Pitti Immagine Uomo 91. The UK designer, whose aesthetic blends British heritage and pop inspiration, will unveil his new contemporary line in the context of his role as Special Guest at the trade show, which takes place in Florence in January. Belgian designer Tim Coppens has been selected as Menswear Guest Designer and is set to use the opportunity as the European premiere of his Fall/Winter 2017 menswear collection.
