Armani chooses Paris over Milan for Emporio line September show

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani said on Wednesday his younger and more accessible Emporio Armani line would go on show in Paris in September instead of Milan but also said that this was a one-off. Traditionally, the Armani collection shows are held in Milan in June for men and in September for women. The designer said the decision to move to Paris was made “exceptionally” for this season, addressing any potential speculation that he might leave the Milan catwalks for good.

Giorgio Armani sets a relaxed tone as he closes Milan fashion week

“A light, deconstructed silhouette is the result of a skillful redesign and re-tailoring process that creates a clear, natural image,” the fashion house explained. Armani is far from alone in peddling the new elegant aesthetic in menswear — on Monday evening Fendi debuted its springtime collection, which featured plenty of silk trousers, minimalistic blouson jackets and lightweight playsuits teamed with slider sandals or basic sneakers.

Giorgio Armani has revealed a glimpse of the costumes designed for his latest cinema collaboration, “The Neon Demon,” directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. The Italian fashion mogul has brought his signature style to the thriller's character Jesse, played by Elle Fanning, in the upcoming Amazon Studio production. In her starring role as the doe-eyed aspiring model Jesse, Fanning wears an Emporio Armani metallic blue strapless top with a matching skirt in the movie's opening scene, and showcases outfits from the designer throughout the film.
