Valentino’s Chiuri set to take over at Dior: reports

Italian designer Maria Grazia Chiuri is set to be named the first ever woman creative director of Dior, the famed French fashion house, according to reports Thursday. Women's Wear Daily, which is regarded as the industry bible, said they had been told that Chiuri has finalised her contract. Both Dior and the Italian brand Valentino, where Chiuri has worked alongside her longtime creative partner Pierpaolo Piccioli since 2008, refused to comment.

Fashion brand Solid Homme coming to the US market

According to the online retailer, Solid Homme fills a gap in the market, offering a compromise between designer and contemporary looks. Mr Porter will offer 21 pieces — from footwear to apparel to accessories — from Solid Homme's fall collection, inspired by French painter Matisse and ranging in price from $200 to $1,185. Solid Homme was founded in 1988 by Woo Youngmi and is sold in 25 stores across Korea.

DJ Khaled is new face of Rocawear fall collection

Clothing company Rocawear has chosen DJ and record producer DJ Khaled as brand ambassador for its fall 2016 campaign, according to Women's Wear Daily. Rocawear was founded by rapper Jay Z and Damon Dash in 1999 before being sold to Iconix in 2007. As its men's line struggles, the company hopes that putting DJ Khaled front and center will bring in business.

The all-American fashion label is moving into the fast lane with the deal, which it hopes will accelerate its growing image as a men's lifestyle brand. As the team's official lifestyle partner, Michael Kors branding will feature prominently on the drivers' overalls and the McLaren-Honda MP4-31 car, which is being driven in the 2016 FIA Formula 1 World Championship by Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. The fashion house has created a limited-edition men's leather jacket to mark the strategic move, featuring both the Michael Kors and McLaren logos, as well as a limited-edition plaque with each piece's unique production number.

In what could be interpreted as a last desperate sop to Nigel Farage, the most outspoken of the British Leave campaigners, double-breasted suits and blazers are also back. Van Beirendonck told AFP that the pony club and Morris men motifs throughout his new collection came from a damascene moment in a London flea market.

Technology gets a stylish makeover at London Technology Week

The world's first holographic intelligent mannequin has gone on display in the UK as part of a fashion exhibition taking place during London Technology Week. It is one of many inventions on show at the Fashion Tech Installation event to demonstrate the growing closeness of fashion and technology. Additional exhibits include a 3D printed wearable garment designed by Modeclix and a 'Bruise Suit' developed by London's Royal College of Art, which detects injuries for disabled athletes with loss of sensation by applying a recyclable pressure-sensitive film to indicate the severity of incidents.

What to look out for at Paris men’s fashion week

With what seems like half of Europe's male population in football shirts for the Euro 2016 championships, Paris designers will try to lift the tone Wednesday with the start of men's fashion week. Nearly 50 fashion houses will unveil their spring and summer collections for 2017 in the French capital, which is also hosting some of the championships' top matches. Balenciaga is staging a men's fashion show for the first time in the history of the aristocratic label which dressed the queens of Spain, Belgium and Wallis Simpson, the divorcee who dreamed of being Queen of England.
