Since then her colorful, sometimes flamboyant, designs have won fans in Hungary, as well as in Brussels, Berlin, Paris and India, where she has also presented her women's and menswear collections.

Hollywood stars pose for 2017 Pirelli Calendar

LONDON (Reuters) – Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and Lupita Nyong'o have posed for the 2017 Pirelli Calendar, which features a host of Hollywood's biggest names. The likes of Uma Thurman, Kate Winslet and 'House of Cards' actress Robin Wright are also among the 15 stars who appear in the calendar. The photos were taken by the German fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh, who has shot for Pirelli twice before. Other movie greats featured include Alicia Vikander and Helen Mirren, with the photos taken in Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Le Touquet and New York. …

Casual chic heralds the start of the Berlin Fashion Week

Dutch designer Erik Frenken kicked off Berlin Fashion Week on Tuesday with a collection inspired by Victorian fashion for label Avelon. Frenken told Reuters that his collection of striped shirt-dresses and skirts, breezy wrap-around blouses and platform sneakers harkened to a bygone era but also harnessed a contemporary vibe with effortless, clean, relaxed looks. “I started playing with these concepts, stripes and ruffles, giving the antique approach to pleating and ruffling and shapes, A-line shapes,” Frenken said.

Zalando targets logistics as mobile fashion sales grow

By Emma Thomasson BERLIN (Reuters) – Europe's biggest dedicated online fashion retailer Zalando will invest more in logistics this year in its pursuit of market share and expects sales to rise by as much as a quarter. Launched in Berlin in 2008, Zalando serves customers in 15 European markets with more than 1,500 brands, with big names such as Gap, Banana Republic and Topshop added in the last year. ASOS reported European Union sales rose 29 percent in September to December.

Taiwan students present creations at Berlin Fashion Week

BERLIN – Students of Taiwan’s Shih Chien university showcased their creative work at Berlin Fashion Week, presenting a range of colorful clothing.  The various designs were combined under the name “Praxes” for the Friday fashion show and models strutted down the catwalk in printed silk jackets, studded corsets, ponchos as well as head pieces that looked like face guards.

Adidas hopes fashion styles will help it win on pitch too

By Emma Thomasson BERLIN (Reuters) – A combination of new and retro sneaker styles will keep driving growth at Adidas's fashion business and help attract more sports fans too, the head of the German firm's Originals unit said in an interview. Adidas, which on Monday announced that Henkel's Kasper Rorsted will take over as new chief executive in October, has lost market share to Nike as its U.S. rival has concentrated more squarely on performance-enhancing sportswear. Adidas has started to muscle back into the U.S. market, but growth has come largely from retro fashion styles like its Stan Smith tennis sneakers, while sales of core sports products like running and soccer shoes has been more muted.
