Rihanna’s stiletto sneaker hype leaves Paris in her wake

Before she even set foot on the Paris catwalk Wednesday singer Rihanna was making headlines with her second collection for Puma, sending supermodel Gigi Hadid off sprinting in a pair of stiletto sneakers. In pictures released on Instagram, Hadid was shown running and jumping in high-heeled trainers in a long dress with a swimsuit-like bodice. The carefully choregraphed series of leaks to hog the maximum of social media attention, also hinted that the Barbadian star is finally bringing colour to her Puma x Fenty (ccrt) range, after a debut show based solely on black and white.

Burkina Faso bans big buttocks beauty contest

The government of Burkina Faso has banned an annual beauty contest for women with the biggest buttocks, saying such events are sexist. Adverts for this weekend’s third edition of ‘Miss Bim-Bim’, carrying an image of two fully clothed women with exaggeratedly large behinds, provoked an outcry on social media. “Our role is to do everything to avoid damaging the image of women,” said Minister Laure Zongo in a statement, adding that social media criticism had persuaded her to act.

The latest beauty looks from Paris Fashion Week

As Paris Fashion Week draws to a close, it's time to reflect on the hottest beauty looks modelled on the autumn/winter 2016 catwalks. It wasn't all about the darkness, however — Stella McCartney used luminescent shadow at the inner corners of the models' eyes to make them pop, while Giambattista Valli, perhaps inspired by the recent social media trend for glitter eyebrows, sent Gigi Hadid down the runway with subtly sparkling brows. Chanel's eye makeup reached the brow bone and was lightly latticed, echoing the house's famous quilting technique.
