Combating Winter Skin Issues

With the coming of winter, this is a crucial time to take care of our skin.  In fact, some of the best skin care should take place in the cold months.  Cold weather can create different issues for the skin than warm weather.  The skin tends to dry out and can become more itchy and sensitive during this time of year.  In order to keep your skin looking great for all those holiday photos, there are some easy steps that you can take to keep your skin glowing.

One of the easiest and cheapest things that everyone can do to keep their skin looking beautiful is to drink extra water.  While it might seem counter intuitive to drink extra liquids when it’s cold outside, it’s actually a very good idea because the cold can actually dry out the skin.  Drinking water helps to keep the skin hydrated and supple.

Another bit of advice is to buy a humidifier for your home as these systems create moisture in the air.  The skin needs moisture in order to stay smooth and soft.  Without enough moisture, the skin can become cracked and dry.  Luckily, most humidifiers today are reasonably priced and some even come as part of an air conditioning system.

In addition to staying hydrated and keeping the air around you clean, it’s also important to watch what you put on your skin.  The best skin products today include all-natural ingredients such as Vitamin C and Coconut Oil.  The skin is the largest organ in the human body and it’s extremely absorptive which makes it very important to only use high-quality ingredients on your skin.

During the winter, you should always exfoliate and use a moisturizer that is compatible with your skin type.  Exfoliating helps to remove the dead skin cells that can accumulate when the skin is dry.
