Why ‘Greenery’ is set to be the key word in fashion this spring

If you're not yet familiar with the word ‘Greenery' in fashion terms, then you're about to be. Greenery is described as “a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature's greens revive, restore and renew.” This was certainly one of the major themes of the SS17 shows, where all things botanical reigned supreme. The shade could be seen at Balenciaga, where it was worked into a horticultural-themed jumpsuit, and at Louis Vuitton, where it formed the basis of a head-to-toe asymmetrical cut-out trouser suit with modern black accents.

Things took a turn for the patriotic at Moncler Gamme Rouge, where the tricolor pattern of the French flag was used to create sash belts and capes.

Out with hunks: fashion breaks codes for male models

Muscular, classically chiseled male models are a dying breed as men are ever more chosen for thinness, even androgyny, in a fashion world playing with the notion of gender. It only takes looking back a decade to male fashion shows — at Versace, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton or Gucci — to see the change on the catwalk. Back then, “male models were a little bit bigger… not so, so skinny,” said Tricia Romani, head of the Canadian branch of the Wilhelmina international modeling agency.

50 shades of blue for F/W 2016

Electric blue, pale blue, turquoise, navy and lavender: the fashion houses are giving all shades of this cool color pride of place in their F/W 2016 collections. Womenswear will be in audaciously vibrant colors, including electric blue, which is making a big comeback. Louis Vuitton put together a range of shades (in patchwork and other forms), Saint Laurent used it for its fur coats, shoes and dresses in very retro rock'n'roll style, and Courrèges chose it for a jumpsuit with touches of white.
