Armani chooses Paris over Milan for Emporio line September show

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani said on Wednesday his younger and more accessible Emporio Armani line would go on show in Paris in September instead of Milan but also said that this was a one-off. Traditionally, the Armani collection shows are held in Milan in June for men and in September for women. The designer said the decision to move to Paris was made “exceptionally” for this season, addressing any potential speculation that he might leave the Milan catwalks for good.

Adidas, Kanye West expand clothing, footwear partnership

Adidas doubled down on its business ties with rap star Kanye West on Wednesday, announcing a new line of footwear and accessories to be sold in dedicated shops. The Germany-based athletic wear giant said merchandise under the newly launched adidas + KANYE WEST label is an expansion of its existing YEEZY brand. “With adidas + KANYE WEST we are exploring new territories by opening up the sports world to Kanye's creativity,” said Eric Liedtke, Adidas's chief managing officer, in a statement.

Luxottica sues BCBG Max Azria over Wayfarer sunglasses trademark

By Jonathan Stempel (Reuters) – Luxottica Group Spa , the maker of Ray-Ban sunglasses, has sued BCBG Max Azria Group LLC, accusing the fashion house of knowingly infringing its famous Wayfarer trademark. The complaint, filed on Wednesday with the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, said BCBG Max Azria's unauthorized sale of infringing eyewear was intended to confuse consumers, hurting Milan-based Luxottica's reputation and goodwill. “Defendant's acts complained of herein have caused Luxottica to suffer irreparable injury to its business,” the complaint said. …

OVS’ ‘Arts of Italy’ fashion capsule celebrates Italian masterpieces

Italy's e-commerce site OVS has released a limited edition fashion capsule called “Arts of Italy,” reports Women's Wear Daily. The collection, which was presented on Wednesday at Milan's 18-century Biblioteca Braidense, will celebrate several of the country's cultural treasures. A portion of sales from the new capsule collection will go towards restoring the cultural artifacts it celebrates.

Italy’s fashion industry signs deal to build ties with Iran

MILAN/PARIS (Reuters) – Italy on Wednesday became the first European country to take steps to help its fashion industry build a stronger presence in Iran following the lifting of Western sanctions. The two countries signed an agreement during a two-day visit by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi with a delegation of business leaders to increase trade between Italy and Iran and reinforce industrial cooperation. The deal was signed by the National Textiles and Fashion Association Sistema Moda Italia (SMI), which represents a sector worth more than 52 billion euros ($59 billion) in revenues, and its Iranian counterpart the Tehran Garment Union (TGU).
