By Miranda Alexander-Webber PARIS (Reuters) – Valentino designer Pierpaolo Piccioli showcased his debut solo haute couture collection in Paris on Wednesday, presenting an ethereal spring/summer 2017 line. It is the first time Piccioli has designed the haute couture collection on his own, after his former creative partner Maria Grazia Chiuri became Dior's first female creative director. Chiuri debuted her Dior haute couture line in Paris on Monday.

Paris menswear week: fall/winter 2017-2018 fashion show schedule confirmed

The French fashion industry's governing body — the French Federation of Fashion and of Ready-to-Wear Couturiers and Fashion Designers — has published a definitive schedule for the fall/winter 2017-2018 menswear fashion shows held in Paris, January 18 to 22. As expected, Lucien Pellat Finet is lined up to open proceedings, Wednesday, January 18 at 10am, and Kenzo will wrap up the season's shows, Sunday, January 22 at 7:30pm.

Richard Quinn wins H&M Design Award

Central Saint Martins graduate Richard Quinn has been awarded the H&M Design Award for 2017, it was announced on Wednesday in London. As winner of the high-street fashion retailer's prestigious award, Quinn will win €50,000, a year mentorship with H&M, and the chance to develop some of his pieces to be sold in selected H&M stores in fall 2017. The London-born 26-year-old womenswear designer prints all of his own fabrics using ethical processes and has plans to open a print studio in London that would serve as a creative hub for young designers.

Before she even set foot on the Paris catwalk Wednesday singer Rihanna was making headlines with her second collection for Puma, sending supermodel Gigi Hadid off sprinting in a pair of stiletto sneakers. In pictures released on Instagram, Hadid was shown running and jumping in high-heeled trainers in a long dress with a swimsuit-like bodice. The carefully choregraphed series of leaks to hog the maximum of social media attention, also hinted that the Barbadian star is finally bringing colour to her Puma x Fenty (ccrt) range, after a debut show based solely on black and white.
