As the final fashion capital to host its fall/winter 2017-2018 menswear collections, New York takes center stage January 30 to February 2, 2017. With a schedule that's seen its share of changes, Raf Simons will present a collection on the New York runway for the first time, Wednesday, February 1, while Boss will reveal its latest menswear creations, January 31.

Richard Quinn wins H&M Design Award

Central Saint Martins graduate Richard Quinn has been awarded the H&M Design Award for 2017, it was announced on Wednesday in London. As winner of the high-street fashion retailer's prestigious award, Quinn will win €50,000, a year mentorship with H&M, and the chance to develop some of his pieces to be sold in selected H&M stores in fall 2017. The London-born 26-year-old womenswear designer prints all of his own fabrics using ethical processes and has plans to open a print studio in London that would serve as a creative hub for young designers.

Before she even set foot on the Paris catwalk Wednesday singer Rihanna was making headlines with her second collection for Puma, sending supermodel Gigi Hadid off sprinting in a pair of stiletto sneakers. In pictures released on Instagram, Hadid was shown running and jumping in high-heeled trainers in a long dress with a swimsuit-like bodice. The carefully choregraphed series of leaks to hog the maximum of social media attention, also hinted that the Barbadian star is finally bringing colour to her Puma x Fenty (ccrt) range, after a debut show based solely on black and white.

Youth to the fore as Milan fashion week opens

Milan fashion week kicked off on Wednesday with collections from Italian labels Grinko and Blugirl setting a youth-orientated tone for six days of catwalk creativity. Next up were newcomers Wunderkind, the youth-targeted branch of Germany's Joop which is one of three Milan debutants among the 71 catwalk shows scheduled between now and Monday. Paris-based couture star Giambattista Valli has shown his own younger line, Giamba, in Milan before but Friday's show will be the first time it has been included in the official programme.

Tom Ford, Kanye West usher in NY Fashion Week

Filmmaker-designer Tom Ford and rap superstar Kanye West fired the start gun on New York Fashion Week Wednesday, unveiling intimate A-list shows that proffered starkly different visions of women's attire. For Ford, who premiered his second movie “Nocturnal Animals” at the Venice film festival only last week, it was a triumphant return to New York after showing more recently in London and Los Angeles.
