H&M Foundation launches second Global Change Award for a greener fashion future

As of Thursday, the second edition of the award, which will see €1 million in grants handed to brands with bright ideas about how to make fashion greener, is open for applications. There are three separate categories: ‘Circular business models', covering ideas on how to reuse, repair, share, digitalize or extend the life of products, ‘Circular materials', looking for ideas on new fibers, recycling techniques, and leather substitutes and ‘Circular processes', focused on new methods.

H&M announces Global Change Award voting results

H&M has announced the prize allocation from its Global Change Award. It is the first year for the awards, which aim to recognize innovative ideas that will improve sustainability in fashion.

H&M Global Change Award winners include algae fiber, marketplace for extra textiles

H&M has announced the five winners of its first ever Global Change Award. The ideas include the “polyester digester,” a device that uses microbes to recycle waste polyester textile, “growing textile fiber under water,” which uses algae to make renewable textiles, and “making waste cotton new,” which uses an environmentally friendly solvent to dissolve cotton in textile waste in order to spin new cotton-like textile fibers from it. An online marketplace for textile leftovers and “100 percent citrus,” which creates new fabric out of citrus juice production by-products, complete the list.
