Carven to discontinue menswear

French fashion house Carven is suspending its menswear line and bidding goodbye to designer Barnabé Hardy. “Barnabé Hardy has been the soul of Carven's men's collection since 2015,” Chief Executive Officer Sophie de Rougemont told the site. The news signals the latest in a line of changes at Carven, which has been undergoing something of a renaissance since it was bought out by Société Béranger in 2008 and revamped as a contemporary brand.

The Costume Institute has revealed the theme for its Fall 2016 exhibition. Titled “Masterworks: Unpacking Fashion,” the exhibition will go on show in the New York museum's Anna Wintour Costume Center this November, featuring significant fashion acquisitions over the past 10 years. Curated by Assistant Curator Jessica Regan and Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton, the show will explore iconic works by designers who have changed the course of fashion history and look at how the department has amassed its collection of masterworks.

Mulberry is unveiling its Fall 2016 campaign, starring twin models Lia and Odette Pavlova, according to Women's Wear Daily. The “Self/Reflection” campaign looks at the dualities in fashion and in life, and features the Pavlova sisters photographed as the reflection of one another. The Mulberry campaign also showcases accessories by the British brand's creative director Johnny Coca, including round-framed sunglasses, studded hoop earrings and the label's new handbag, the Chester.

Emporio Armani chooses Paris over Milan for Spring 2017

The designer's Emporio Armani ready to wear line will show its upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 collection in the French capital rather than the usual Milan, reports the Business of Fashion (BoF). Although rare, this isn't the first time Armani has taken the brand out of Milan — the designer unveiled his Spring/Summer 2007 collection in London as part of a wider event that included the launch of his Emporio Armani Product RED venture, part of the AIDS-fighting concept spearheaded by U2 singer Bono and activist Bobby Shriver.

Roberto Cavalli names former Versace head as new CEO

Italian fashion group Roberto Cavalli said on Thursday it had named former Versace head Gian Giacomo Ferraris as its new chief executive as it seeks to relaunch under a new owner. Ferraris, an engineer who also worked for Italian luxury groups Gucci and Prada, radically turned around Versace in his seven years at the company, increasing revenue and cutting debt and bringing it back to profit only two years after being appointed. “The profound knowledge of the sector and the important professional experiences of Gian Giacomo Ferraris will allow Roberto Cavalli to consolidate the path of relaunch that is at the base of the company's development plans,” Cavalli said in a statement.

Karlie Kloss has landed a new job as a brand ambassador and creative consultant for the fashion retailer Express. Kloss will also collaborate on an exclusive fashion line with the label, set to debut next spring. The campaign will kick off in August 2016 with the fall denim collection, comprising a print, online and TV campaign photographed and directed by Inez and Vinoodh and including interview-like webisodes in which the star shares her thoughts on work, love, fashion, friends and her life.

Armani chooses Paris over Milan for Emporio line September show

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani said on Wednesday his younger and more accessible Emporio Armani line would go on show in Paris in September instead of Milan but also said that this was a one-off. Traditionally, the Armani collection shows are held in Milan in June for men and in September for women. The designer said the decision to move to Paris was made “exceptionally” for this season, addressing any potential speculation that he might leave the Milan catwalks for good.
