Spice Girl and designer Victoria Beckham was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) while other fashion notables included Anna Wintour editor-in-chief of “American Vogue” and accessories designer, Anya Hindmarch.

The biannual honors list is released on the Queen's official birthday in June and at the end of each year.

Movers and shakers: the hottest fashion promotions of 2016

The year was off to a dramatic start with the announcement in March that Paris designer Bouchra Jarrar had been named the new artistic director of Lanvin. Jarrar replaced Alber Elbaz, who had left the luxury fashion label under a cloud of controversy the previous October. Bella Hadid teases upcoming Chrome Hearts collection

Bella Hadid has offered a sneak peek at her debut fashion collection for the LA-based brand Chrome Hearts. The supermodel took some time out from her winter ski vacation in Aspen earlier this week to upload not one, but two, photos to Instagram, in which she sported a patent white biker hat with gold hardware detailing. The biker hat suggests that Hadid's upcoming collection for the accessories brand is set to channel her own '90s streetwear-influenced off-duty style.

Boohoo.com sets its sights on Nasty Gal

The UK fashion retailer Boohoo.com has its eye on acquiring Los Angeles brand Nasty Gal. Nasty Gal Inc has announced it is seeking permission from the US Bankruptcy Court to launch an auction process for the sale of its business, and is set to ask for approval for Boohoo to act as the 'stalking horse bidder'. A potential purchase would be a further boost for the rapidly-growing Manchester-based Boohoo, which added the fashion site Pretty Little Thing to its portfolio earlier this year, as well as teming up with model Jordyn Woods on a size-inclusive capsule collection released last autumn.

Oscar de la Renta gets stamp of approval from the US Postal Service

The celebrity designer, who passed away in 2014, has been selected by the US Postal Service to appear on 11 different stamps designed by art director Derry Noyes. “The new year is shaping up to be exceptional as the Postal Service continues to produce stamps that celebrate the people, events and cultural milestones that are unique to the history of our great nation,” said Mary-Anne Penner, U.S. Postal Service Director, Stamp Services, in a statement. De la Renta, who was born in the Dominican Republic but became a pioneer of the New York fashion scene, started his fashion career under the guidance of Cristóbal Balenciaga in Madrid, before moving to Lanvin in Paris.
