British Fashion Council announces shortlist for Designer Menswear Fund

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has revealed the designers shortlisted for its BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund. The prestigious award will see the winner receive a £150,000 grant (about US$217,000) to grow their label, as well as £50,000 value (about US$72,000) in kind services and 12 months of mentoring from industry experts. Urban label Sibling, which hit the headlines earlier this year with a River Island collaboration, is one of the shortlisted British brands, alongside designer Christopher Raeburn, who is famous for his work repurposing military fabrics.

The UK gets the Star Wars style treatment with new fashion collection

Fashion from another galaxy was the talk of the industry in London last week with the star-studded event “Star Wars: Fashion Finds the Force” event. Ten British designers came together to create garments inspired by George Lucas's famous space fantasy franchise ahead of the release of the movie “Star Wars: the Force Awakens” this month. Christopher Raeburn, Claire Barrow and J.W. Anderson are just some of the designers who contributed to the collection, which is being auctioned off on with proceeds going to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.
