Second men’s fashion week kicks off in New York

Men's fashion week kicked off in New York on Monday for a second season, playing catch up after chic shows in London, Milan and Paris. It will also whet appetites for the style explosion and buyers' bonanza that is New York fashion week for women — the main event — due to begin February 11. “The success of the inaugural 'New York Fashion Week: Men's' surpassed our expectations,” Steven Kolb head of the Council of Fashion Designers of America told AFP in an email interview.

Luxury hotel Claridge's has joined forces with style bible British Vogue to celebrate the magazine's upcoming fashion exhibition. The package includes an overnight stay at the Art Deco hotel as well as two tickets to the upcoming exhibition “Vogue100: A Century of Style” at the city's National Portrait Gallery. Two manicures at the Claridge's Health Club & Spa, champagne upon arrival to the hotel, breakfast for two and a copy of the Vogue100 exhibition catalogue, signed by the curator and British Vogue's Contributing Editor Robin Muir, also form part of the deal.

Proving that manliness can come wrapped in a skirt, design duo Sibling on Saturday stamped their style on London Fashion Week with a bold collection inspired by boxing and 1980s pop culture. Queen's “Another One Bites the Dust” opened the show, held in the basement of the neo-Gothic Victoria House in the heart of the British capital, a fitting soundtrack to the British pair's punchy but light-hearted designs.
