Italian designer brand Ermanno Scervino opens women’s section at Harrods in London

Italian fashion house Ermanno Scervino has opened a dedicated women's corner at Harrods in London, in a bid to cater to “the market's growing interest” in the label (via WWD). Featuring a selection of some of the most elegant pieces from Scervino's collections, the offering adds yet another point of sale to the brand's distribution network, in addition to the 48 boutiques it currently operates worldwide.

Fashion brand Solid Homme coming to the US market

According to the online retailer, Solid Homme fills a gap in the market, offering a compromise between designer and contemporary looks. Mr Porter will offer 21 pieces — from footwear to apparel to accessories — from Solid Homme's fall collection, inspired by French painter Matisse and ranging in price from $200 to $1,185. Solid Homme was founded in 1988 by Woo Youngmi and is sold in 25 stores across Korea.

Prada says shop closures to offset openings in 2016/17

Italian fashion house Prada will offset new shop openings with selective closures this year and the next in an effort to shield profit margins from weaker demand. “I don't see a real change in the market trend,” Prada Chairman Carlo Mazzi told an analyst call on Monday. “The problems of the market in terms of the world's economic situation and of changes…in consumers, especially the new generations…are quite clear for everybody.” Prada embarked on a breakneck retail expansion after listing on the Hong Kong bourse in 2011.

Burberry to collaborate with London’s Dover Street Market

Dover Street Market, a retail and concept store, is relocating to London's Haymarket in a building formerly occupied by Burberry for nearly 100 years. To celebrate the move, Burberry is bringing back 20 original waterproof coats, which will be shown off in a custom-built installation beginning Monday. The space, replete with mirrored puddles and paper clouds, will epitomize Burberry's history of protecting against the elements.
