– Embattled star Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte lost two major endorsement deals following his false claim he had been robbed at gunpoint in Rio, with Speedo and Ralph Lauren pulling the plug. Both the global swimwear brand and the US fashion label said they were ending their relationships with the 32-year-old Lochte as his actions had not reflected the “values” they wish to promote. Lochte claimed he and three of his teammates — all of them gold medal winners in Rio — were mugged by robbers pretending to be police after a night out, but the story was quickly discredited by other witness testimony and surveillance video.

Swimwear maker Speedo and luxury retailer Ralph Lauren Corp ended their sponsorship contracts with Ryan Lochte, days after the U.S. swimmer admitted to exaggerating his story about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio during the Olympics. The incident embarrassed the host city, angered the local police and government and dominated news coverage of South America's first Olympics, leading the U.S. Olympic Committee to issue an apology. “I over-exaggerated what was happening to me.” Within hours of the Games coming to a close, Speedo USA issued a statement saying it would drop Lochte as one of its endorsers, while Ralph Lauren said it would not be renewing its contract with the swimmer.

Ryan Lochte is plum out of luck when it comes to his sponsorship deal with Speedo, as the banana hammock company announced Monday that they will no longer support the swimmer after his shenanigans at the Rio Olympics. You now think of Speedo as the socially conscious company and not just the company that makes taking your kids to the beach an uncomfortable endeavor. NBC News looked at all of Lochte’s sponsorships and should they all drop him, he could lose millions of dollars, which is a shocking figure for those of us that only think about Lochte for one week every four years.
