Cannes Film Festival 2016 style roundup: glam-chic rules the red carpet

There wasn't much in the way of risk-taking during this year's Cannes fortnight, let alone originality or OTT flamboyancy, as stars stuck to classic glamour with chic and sophisticated styles. The 69th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 11-22, 2016) did, however, see one surprise guest, as color came to a line-up of full ball gowns, floaty frocks and shift dresses. There was no major red carpet gaffe to get onlookers chattering at this year's event, whether in terms of fashion disasters, wardrobe malfunctions or crazy hairstyles (well, almost), and no one outfit was singled out as a focal point for fashionistas.

Kering’s Gucci sales growth slows in first quarter, below expectations

French luxury group Kering's flagship Gucci brand posted a lower-than-expected rise in first-quarter sales on Thursday amid a difficult environment for the luxury sector. Gucci posted 3.1 percent growth in comparable sales, below analysts' expectations of 5 to 6 percent and slowing from 4.8 percent growth in the last quarter of 2015. The luxury goods industry has had a difficult start to the year, partly due to the Chinese economic slowdown and a sharp drop in tourist traffic in shopping hotspots such as Paris, Milan, Hong Kong and Macau.

Why Ralph Lauren Stock Is Out of Fashion on Wall Street

First, this news of the rich and famous: Just days ago, billionaire fashion baron Ralph Lauren gave a custom-made, baby bomber jacket to Saint West, the 2-month-old son of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Lauren even enclosed a handwritten gift card. In conjunction with releasing its fourth-quarter earnings report for 2015, Ralph Lauren Corp. (ticker: RL) saw its stock get hammered — or if you prefer, dashed on the head with a polo mallet.

Nipple pasties hit the mainstream in 2016 lingerie trend

This year's Salon International de la Lingerie, held late last month in Paris, France, saw the biggest names in the lingerie industry arrive in the French capital to show off their 2016 collections. Trends spotted at this year's event include the season's key theme, 1990s minimalism, spiced up with risqué bondage-inspired details, such as nipple pasties. Nipple pasties have been reinvented in a sexier, almost erotic incarnation that could see them become a must-have accessory for 2016.
