Raf Simons sent shockwaves rippling through the fashion industry when he announced his resignation as Creative Director of Dior last October. The Belgian designer left Dior last fall after three years of overseeing the womenswear creations for the prestigious French fashion house, citing the need to redress his work-life balance. Calvin Klein, meanwhile, has been undergoing a tumultuous period of its own.

Ex-Yankee Jeter faces fraud trial in dispute with underwear maker

Former New York Yankees baseball star Derek Jeter must face a trial over claims he defrauded the Swedish company that makes $100 Frigo brand underwear out of millions of dollars, a judge ruled on Tuesday. The former All-Star shortstop has been locked in a legal dispute with RevolutionWear, a maker of luxury underwear that brought Jeter on as a director and investor with a 15 percent stake in 2011. The judge, Vice Chancellor Sam Glasscock, found that Jeter must defend allegations that he fraudulently induced RevolutionWear into an agreement by concealing terms of an endorsement deal with Nike Inc.

Gigi Hadid gets playful for new Tommy Hilfiger campaign ‘The Girl’

Tommy Hilfiger has released the campaign images for its latest fragrance “The Girl,” starring Gigi Hadid. The US designer teamed up with the supermodel and Tommy Hilfiger ambassador and put her all-American appeal to good use for the campaign, which celebrates the house's brand new eau de toilette scent. Inspired by what he terms Hadid's “free-spirited and magnetic” personality, the fragrance features opening notes of green pear, violet leaf and green fig leaves before moving to the heart of velvety jasmine petals and silky muguet, finished by hints of cedarwood and cashmeran.

Singer Thalia Sodi expands fashion empire at Macy’s

US department store Macy's has expanded its apparel collaboration with songstress Thalia Sodi to include a sleepwear and intimates collection, which is set to launch from this month. The line, which will be sold exclusively in Macy's stores and on macys.com, will offer a range of chemises, negligees, robes and pajamas, in addition to a new Thalia by Leonisa collection of shapewear and bras, which will be made available in August. The Thalia Sodi intimates line ranges will be priced from $27 to $54, with the Thalia by Leonisa to retail from $25 to $80.

Mango teases first of four fresh campaigns for AW16

Spanish retailer Mango is set to release the first of four print campaigns to be launched globally for AW16 at the end of August, and has teased a sneak peek of the shoot, starring models Roos Abels and Lexi Boling on the streets of New York. The campaign, which also ties into Mango's renewed digital push, has been teased on the brand's Snapchat (mango) and Instagram (@mango) platforms with a live broadcast of previously unseen footage from the photo shoot, which also reveals key garments being featured by MANGO during the first month of the upcoming season. The move is part of Mango's marketing strategy which sees the release of a new print campaign every month in order to reveal the latest trends, and will launch in tandem with its official Spotify channel in late August.

Designers revealed for the Swarovski Collective 2017

Swarovski has announced the names of the fashion designers set to take part in its annual Swarovski Collective program for 2017. The US labels Rosie Assoulin, Tome and Creatures of the Wind also made the cut, alongside Finnish brand Aalto, Danish label Anne Sofie Madsen, Milan-based Arthur Arbesser and Vivetta and and Paris-based Wanda Nylon. Since first launching in 1999 as a collaboration between Nadja Swarovski, Isabella Blow and Alexander McQueen, the Swarovski Collective has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, and Marios Schwab.
