US fashion brand Coach teams with Parisian retailer Colette for ‘multifaceted partnership’

American luxury fashion company Coach has joined forces with eclectic Parisian retailer Colette for a multifaceted partnership that will soon see the duo launch a kid's capsule collection. The Coach 1941 x colette collection — a collaborative effort between Coach creative director Stuart Vevers and Colette cofounder Sarah Andelman — will launch at the Colette concept store in Paris on Rue Saint-Honoré.

Arab Fashion Week closes with Warhol-inspired designs

French-Lebanese designer Ingie Chalhoub has closed a busy Arab Fashion Week with a collection inspired by American pop art icon Andy Warhol. “My design is all about the Parisian chic woman who is travelling all over the world,” Chalhoub told AFP after the show late Monday at a luxurious Dubai hotel. “This collection was mostly inspired by an exhibition I saw in Paris from Andy Warhol and as I'm very fond of him I wanted to take back his drawings and his paintings and to make out of them some fabrics and some designs,” she said.

Paris Fashion Week has a reputation for being one of the boldest and most creative of all the fashion cities when it comes to catwalk makeup, and the Spring/Summer 2017 shows certainly lived up to this reputation. French fashion flags its economic importance

By Astrid Wendlandt PARIS (Reuters) – France’s fashion and fashion-related businesses such as jewels, eyewear, watches and high-end cosmetics generate more sales than its aerospace and automobile industries, according to a study commissioned by the French Fashion Institute, IFM. It said annual sales generated by fashion-related businesses based in France totaled 150 billion euros ($170 billion), compared with 102 billion for aerospace and 39 billion euros for cars. The study, by independent economists and statisticians from France’s national statistics institute Insee, also used official customs data.

The Italian fashion house Brioni has parted company with its controversial creative director Justin O'Shea only six months after the Australian was brought in to shake-up “James Bond's tailor”. The tattooed, shaven-headed heavy metal fan, who had never designed clothes, was seen by many as an uneasy fit with a brand famous for its bespoke suits. The Milan-based house had dressed every James Bond from Pierce Brosnan in “Goldeneye” in 1995 to Daniel Craig in “Casino Royale”.

Chanel brings back the side ponytail at Paris Fashion Week

The theme might have been the digital age, but the beauty look at Chanel's Spring/Summer 2017 ready-to-wear show in Paris Tuesday was a nostalgic throwback. This was mainly achieved thanks to the hair — Karl Lagerfeld's models strutted down the catwalk wearing their hair tied in low-slung side ponytails held in place with colorful hair elastics bearing charm forms of the brand's iconic 'C' logo. As well as calling to mind some of the best TV shows from the 1990s, the style also made space for a crucial accessory — baseball caps worn chirpily sideways.

Chanel’s Lagerfeld turns fashion into giant data center

Chanel on Tuesday made fun of how much technology was part of people's lives by producing a fashion show at Paris' Grand Palais dedicated to wires, cables and black data boxes. Greeted by a huge sign that said “Chanel data center”, designer Karl Lagerfeld presented guests with a collection complete with blinking handbags, iridescent tweeds and fluorescent rays of color splashed on flowing dresses and caps. “We all depend on it,” Lagerfeld, 83, told Reuters TV after the show, referring to technology.
