50 shades of blue for F/W 2016

Electric blue, pale blue, turquoise, navy and lavender: the fashion houses are giving all shades of this cool color pride of place in their F/W 2016 collections. Womenswear will be in audaciously vibrant colors, including electric blue, which is making a big comeback. Louis Vuitton put together a range of shades (in patchwork and other forms), Saint Laurent used it for its fur coats, shoes and dresses in very retro rock'n'roll style, and Courrèges chose it for a jumpsuit with touches of white.

Is Raf Simons taking over at Calvin Klein?

Raf Simons sent shockwaves rippling through the fashion industry when he announced his resignation as Creative Director of Dior last October. The Belgian designer left Dior last fall after three years of overseeing the womenswear creations for the prestigious French fashion house, citing the need to redress his work-life balance. Calvin Klein, meanwhile, has been undergoing a tumultuous period of its own.

Haute couture in the spotlight at upcoming Paris fashion week

Before the summer recess, all eyes in the fashion world will turn to Paris, where a new set of haute couture collections will be unveiled July 3 to 7. The term “haute couture” is a protected status with its own regulatory commission deciding which fashion houses are eligible for the label. Fashion houses making the official lineup — whether as permanent or guest members — must follow a certain number of rules to be able to show off their designs.

Giorgio Armani sets a relaxed tone as he closes Milan fashion week

“A light, deconstructed silhouette is the result of a skillful redesign and re-tailoring process that creates a clear, natural image,” the fashion house explained. Armani is far from alone in peddling the new elegant aesthetic in menswear — on Monday evening Fendi debuted its springtime collection, which featured plenty of silk trousers, minimalistic blouson jackets and lightweight playsuits teamed with slider sandals or basic sneakers.

Hats and horses at Royal Ascot Ladies Day

ASCOT, England (Reuters) – Blooming flowers, animals and patriotic references were among the fashion inspirations for race-goers at Britain's Royal Ascot's Ladies Day on Thursday, with a range of colorful and quirky hats on display at the famed horse racing event. Attendees wore an array of fanciful hats and fascinator at the gathering in Ascot, England, including one depicting a darts board, another with the figure of a dog fixed on top. Focus on Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent’s new creative director

On Monday, April 4, Saint Laurent's parent company Kering announced that Belgian fashion designer, Anthony Vaccarello, will succeed photographer and fashion designer, Hedi Slimane, as creative director of the fashion house founded by couturier Yves Saint Laurent. Born in Brussels to Italian parents, Anthony Vaccarello wasn't always destined for a career in fashion, focusing instead on studying more “serious” subjects.
