Fat ladies tend to be thin on the ground on the Paris catwalk. In contrast, the Japanese label Anrealage banished colour pretty much altogether, going instead for 50 shades of grey that ranged from beautifully cut feminine dresses to high-tech shoulder-padded power suits.

A look at Ujoh, Giorgio Armani’s new protégé fashion label

Giorgio Armani has announced the name of the latest up-and-coming fashion talent to receive his support this Milan Women's Fashion Week. The Italian designer will host the Ujoh fashion show at his Armani/Teatro space in the city on February 27 at 10:30, providing the brand with an international platform from which to showcase its Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. Founded in 2009 by Japanese designer Mitsuru Nishizaki, Ujoh focuses on pieces with a sleek design that combine rich fabrics and a minimalist sartorial approach to bold cuts.

Japanese designer, in New York, inspired by France

Japanese designer Yukari Suda is so inspired by Pas-de-Calais that when she founded her fashion house 18 years ago, she named it after the northern French region on the English Channel. It is perhaps unusual for a Japanese designer who speaks only Japanese to be so drawn to that particular corner of France, which is most famous abroad today for its worsening migrant crisis. Inspired by the famous “Dentelle de Calais” lace, the landscape, cliffs and light of the area, Suda has found success in Japan.

Bondage hits the runway at Paris Fashion Week

The odd-couple mix of bondage and big sizes collided on the Paris catwalk Friday, in clothing that was at once roomy and adorned with nude women who were tied up tight. The risque theme did not stop there, with designer Masanori Morikawa saying he sprinkled the autumn and winter collection with embroidered flowers and elephants to represent male and female naughty bits. “This collection is about tying, like everything, like belts, like buckles, like bondage,” Morikawa told AFP after the show, which was inspired by controversial Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki.

Kenzo's e-commerce site, previously only accessible in Europe, has opened in the US, enabling Americans to access the brand's different collections. Kenzo does not currently have any physical retail stores in the United States, but Americans can now browse and buy from all the brand's different collections: from women's, men's and kids' to jewelry, watches, shoes and home furnishings. Kenzo is a French luxury brand, created in 1970 by Japanese designer Kenzo Takada.
