A pale yellow Louis Vuitton gown adorned with silver paillettes was one of the first looks to shimmer down the 500 foot-long stretch of carpet, worn by Alicia Vikander, nominated for best supporting actress in “The Danish Girl.” “Just being here feels so surreal,” said the Swedish actress sporting a high ponytail. “I have butterflies in my tummy.” “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara brought va-va-voom to the red carpet in a plunging Marchesa dress in midnight blue, while “Star Wars'” Daisy Ridley sparkled in silver sequins in a V-neck Chanel.

Dolce and Gabbana, the designers who were once Italy's most famous gay couple, put the fairytale back into fashion on Sunday, days after Italy's Senate voted to legalise same-sex civil unions. The duo must have called upon every available golden-locked model in Milan for an ode to all things princessey that was also an unabashed celebration of living happily ever after. With the tone set by invitations which, on opening, played “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes,” from Disney's 1950 animated version of “Cinderella”, this was a celebration of true and enduring love in all its forms.

By Marie-Louise Gumuchian MILAN (Reuters) – It will be a fairytale wardrobe for Dolce & Gabbana fans next winter, with the Italian fashion brand presenting enchanting fantasy creations for its latest womenswear line at Milan Fashion Week on Sunday. Against a backdrop of an open story book, golden carriage and a clock ticking towards midnight, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana sent models out in a typically colorful and vibrant collection of richly-embellished dresses with patterns referring to stories such as “Cinderella” and “Snow White”. Cinderella's ball gown was given a modern makeover in a shimmering fitted light blue dress with enlarged shoulders.

By Marie-Louise Gumuchian MILAN (Reuters) – Fur took center stage at Milan Fashion Week on Saturday with Italian brands Blumarine and Ermanno Scervino presenting plenty of it in their luxurious womenswear creations for next winter. Designer Scervino also sought to showcase Italian craftsmanship in his collection called “The Mosaic Woman” with pleated as well as thick lace dresses, tweed coats decorated with sparkling sequined flowers and embroidered evening wear.

Versace eyes glam urban look for next winter

Italian designer house Versace pictured a bold and energetic urban look for women next fall, presenting strong tailored pieces and plenty of luxurious coats for fashionistas' wardrobes. Designer Donatella Versace put zips on outerwear, knit dresses, ribbed tops and boots for her autumn/winter 2016 collection show as part of Milan Fashion Week on Friday night. Models, which included big catwalk names Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, strutted down the catwalk in belted coats with leather detailing, biker jackets, slim trousers that flared above the ankle and a selection of shirts, including in printed silk.

In a mainly black collection with flashes of bright color, the 81-year old Armani softened day suits with looser silhouettes in an apparent nod to the 1980s, reinforced by multi-colored jumpers and plenty of sequins.
