The exhibition will explore Gabrielle Chanel's creative world from the perspective of her relationship to books and reading. Art objects from her Paris apartment will also be shown to the public for the first time, along with jewelry pieces and perfumes.

Vans and & Other Stories unveil summer collection

Vans has teamed up with Scandinavian label & Other Stories on a special collection for Summer 2016. The 'Co-Lab' project has seen the skate sneaker brand create three exclusive styles for the purpose of being transformed into an artistic canvas for & Other Stories' designs. “The inspiration comes from paintings, which led to the idea to use canvas,” explains Pauline Abascal, Pattern Designer at & Other Stories.

2016 Fashion Trust singles out hot London designers for grants

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has singled out 12 of the hottest London-based designers on the capital's fashion scene at the moment to receive the 2016 BFC Fashion Trust grants. Korean creative Eudon Choi, sportswear-inspired label Fyodor Golan and conceptualist Gareth Pugh have all qualified for a portion of the £350,000 (equivalent to over US $500,000) grant. The new label from the ex Marc by Marc Jacobs creative duo Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley, 'Hillier Bartley', is also on the list, as is the winner of the 2015 LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize, Marques'Almeida.

H&M announces next designer collaboration is with KENZO

H&M has announced that their next designer collaboration will be with Parisian fashion house KENZO and will launch in November. KENZO Creative Directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon will be bringing the vibrant energy and playful spirit of KENZO to H&M, designing collections for both men and women as well as a range of accessories. Further details are yet to be announced, but since joining KENZO in 2011 Lim and Leon have become known for their use of bold colors and vivid prints combined with global influences and traditions.

Adidas to return mass shoe production to Germany in 2017

By Jörn Poltz ANSBACH, Germany (Reuters) – Adidas will launch mass production of running shoes at a German factory operated largely by robots next year and plans to open a similar plant in the United States next year, the company said on Tuesday. Founded by German cobbler Adi Dassler in 1949, Adidas had closed all but one of its 10 shoe factories in Germany by 1993 as it shifted most production from Europe to lower-wage Asia, particularly China and Vietnam.

Bulgari aims to have up to six stores in Russia over 10 years

Bulgari, the flagship jewelry brand of luxury group LVMH , plans to open up to four more stores in Russia over the next ten years, betting on the long-term prospects of its luxury market. The company is the second luxury brand to signal its confidence in the Russian market after French luxury group Hermes tripled the selling space of one of its two Moscow shops in December. Bulgari Chief Executive Jean-Christophe Babin told Reuters in an interview the company's two Moscow outlets opened so far were “a minimum” even though some customers had become more cautious because of the weaker rouble.

Rome opera house taps Hollywood glitz for new ‘Traviata’

By Isla Binnie ROME (Reuters) – Rome's opera house has called on the star power of Hollywood and high fashion for a new production that is already racking up record ticket sales for an institution that until two years ago was grappling with debt and labor disputes. Stars of stage and screen, including reality TV celebrity Kim Kardashian and her rapper husband Kanye West, converged on Rome on Sunday for a gala dress rehearsal of Giuseppe Verdi's “La Traviata”, which tells the tragic story of a self-sacrificing courtesan in 19th-century Paris. Veteran designer Valentino Garavani produced this version of “La Traviata”, which opens on May 24 and runs till June 30, through his foundation.

Uniqlo to team up with Theory on a men’s capsule shirt collection

Japanese retailer Uniqlo is to team up with US brand Theory on a capsule shirt collection for men reports WWD. The small shirt collection will consist of three men's polo shirts and one t-shirt, all in Uniqlo's unique perspiration wicking fabrics. The collection is set to launch in Japan on June 10 and will also be available in-stores globally and on Uniqlo's website.
