New York Fashion Week breaks out designs for all seasons

By Patricia Reaney NEW YORK (Reuters) – More designers at New York Fashion Week broke out of the industry's long-established mode of showing clothes meant to be worn in six months' time by sprinkling wear-now fall looks among catwalk presentations largely focused on next spring. “Instant gratification, that is the mantra of a whole generation of people, and when they see it they want it, and we are going into the fall season so it makes a lot of sense,” said Roseanne Morrison, fashion director at trends forecaster The Doneger Group. Marc Jacobs' spring-focused show at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Thursday was all glitter and glam as dreadlocked models strutted in mini dresses, embellished satin shorts and platform shoes.

Vera Wang serves up dark mystery for powerful women

Designer to the stars Vera Wang perfected the latest trend for structured fashion Tuesday by sending down the runway wool peplums, evening wear decorated with glass pearls and airy ruched skirts. Most famous for her A-list wedding and red carpet gowns favored by the likes of Chelsea Clinton and Hollywood royalty, the veteran New York designer nonetheless prefers black and white on the catwalk. The spring/summer 2017 collection was all about power, craft and mystery she told AFP after the show, which was watched by Tony-winning actress Cynthia Erivo and suspended Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova from the front row.

Emporio Armani chooses Paris over Milan for Spring 2017

The designer's Emporio Armani ready to wear line will show its upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 collection in the French capital rather than the usual Milan, reports the Business of Fashion (BoF). Although rare, this isn't the first time Armani has taken the brand out of Milan — the designer unveiled his Spring/Summer 2007 collection in London as part of a wider event that included the launch of his Emporio Armani Product RED venture, part of the AIDS-fighting concept spearheaded by U2 singer Bono and activist Bobby Shriver.
