M.I.A.’s H&M video makes global debut

To kickstart the campaign, M.I.A. and H&M have collaborated on a song — “Reware it,” complete with video, released on Monday, starring not just the rapper, but a host of other social influencers from actress Yao Chen to model, Moffy. “World Recycle Week is about embracing important environmental issues such as the landfills, and highlighting a global movement,” said M.I.A. The video goes live a week before World Recycle Week officially starts.

New pop at Emporio Armani, practical wardrobe from Etro in Milan

In a mainly black collection with flashes of bright color, the 81-year old Armani softened day suits with looser silhouettes in an apparent nod to the 1980s, reinforced by multi-colored jumpers and plenty of sequins. The autumn/winter 2016/2017 line, called “New Pop”, blended “classic style and digital designs”, according to show notes. …

Ahead of Oscars, fashion brands flock to Hollywood spotlight

Ahead of Sunday's Oscars ceremony, the most-watched entertainment event around the world, Hollywood has been the setting for numerous fashion events. British designer Stella McCartney threw a party showcasing her latest collection at famed music store Amoeba, Saint Laurent Paris took over The Palladium music venue for its menswear show, Gucci announced a celebrity ambassador and Kenzo debuted a new short film.

80s-inspired fashion show draws four-legged models

Among this year's models was Asiago, a 10-year-old Yorkshire Terrier who was given up by his owner to a no-kill shelter that is part of the Alliance. Asiago was presented in an elaborate hand-built carriage and shown by Stephanie Mattera, a spokeswoman for the alliance.

Hollywood stars stud Saint Laurent’s awards-season LA show

French design house Saint Laurent drew A-list celebrities to its catwalk fixture in Los Angeles on Wednesday, presenting its autumn 2016 creations just as the city hosts major film and music award ceremonies. Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone and Jane Fonda sat in the front row as creative director Hedi Slimane unveiled Saint Laurent's fall 2016 menswear and part of its womenswear in a show the luxury label called “a tribute to the strong music scene in Los Angeles”. Stella McCartney, who like Saint Laurent unveils her main collections in Paris, presented her pre-fall line last month in Los Angeles, where the fashion spotlight centers on who is wearing what on the red carpets rolled out during awards season.

Taiwan students present creations at Berlin Fashion Week

BERLIN – Students of Taiwan’s Shih Chien university showcased their creative work at Berlin Fashion Week, presenting a range of colorful clothing.  The various designs were combined under the name “Praxes” for the Friday fashion show and models strutted down the catwalk in printed silk jackets, studded corsets, ponchos as well as head pieces that looked like face guards.

Burberry makes Apple TV debut

UK fashion house Burberry has launched on Apple TV. The brand will be livestreaming its upcoming menswear show on its new app for Apple TV on Monday January 11 as part of London Collections Men. It will be the first luxury brand to broadcast a fashion show live on the platform.
