Fendi to mark 90th birthday with ‘haute fourrure’ fashion show

Fendi is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a “haute fourrure” fashion show in Rome. Almost a century later the house, now under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld, retains an entire internal studio dedicated to working with the controversial material. “An haute fourrure show in Rome is the best way to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Fendi to express our roots and our DNA while transmitting bold creativity and the unique expertise of fur,” said the brand's CEO Pietro Beccari.

The latest beauty looks from Paris Fashion Week

As Paris Fashion Week draws to a close, it's time to reflect on the hottest beauty looks modelled on the autumn/winter 2016 catwalks. It wasn't all about the darkness, however — Stella McCartney used luminescent shadow at the inner corners of the models' eyes to make them pop, while Giambattista Valli, perhaps inspired by the recent social media trend for glitter eyebrows, sent Gigi Hadid down the runway with subtly sparkling brows. Chanel's eye makeup reached the brow bone and was lightly latticed, echoing the house's famous quilting technique.

A sneak peek at the MET Costume Institute’s fashion exhibition ‘Manus x Machina’

The exhibition, which opens on May 5, explores the link between the handmade and the machine-made in the worlds of haute couture and ready-to-wear. “Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made, but recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other,” said Andrew Bolton, Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute. Recently released photos reveal that the show will include a “wedding ensemble” by Karl Lagerfeld for the Chanel Autumn/Winter 2014-15 haute couture collection, and an evening dress by Yves Saint Laurent for the Autumn/Winter 1969-70 haute couture show.
